Bosch Malaysia deepens commitment to future talent development
- Inspiring next generation of innovators with visit from Heritage International School students.
- Contributing contributes to the nation’s aspiration towards advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda.
Petaling Jaya, Malaysia – Bosch in Malaysia reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to nurturing future talent by hosting a field trip for students from Heritage International School at its Malaysian headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
Alignment with national agenda
With the recently announced national target of producing 60,000 engineers by 2030, Bosch has been and continues to be an active contributor to the Malaysian growth story. Both Bosch and Bosch Rexroth Malaysia serve on the national TVET council to provide industrial insights and helping uplift the national curriculum to meet future workforce needs.
“As an industry player, we must stay close to the next generation –- not only to expose them to our technology, but also to upskill ourselves in how we engage with future talent. This is how we bridge the gap between industry and youth, while supporting the government’s vision to nurture Malaysia’s strong young talents with real-world, hands-on experience,” added Chan.
The visit included 14 students aged 16, accompanied by three teachers, who are studying design and science (IGCSE Year 10 equivalent). Students were given an exclusive tour and demonstration featuring three business units: Building Technology, Mobility Aftermarket, and Power Tools. Representatives from each unit showcased relevant technologies, demonstrating how Bosch solutions, true to the ‘Invented for life’ ethos, are applied across diverse sectors, from smart security systems to vehicle maintenance and precision engineering tools
The company is planning a future field trip for the students to the Bosch Rexroth facility in Shah Alam. This next phase will provide further insight into hydraulic, robotic, and factory automation solutions, giving students a comprehensive view of industrial technology.
A local-for-global engineering powerhouse
Malaysia is the home to Bosch’s largest engineering and manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia. With over 4,000 associates across Malaysia and strong research and development capabilities, Bosch in Malaysia serves as a “local-for-global” contributor in mobility electronics, semiconductors, and power tools. The total net sales of 1.466 billion euros (7.261 billion ringgit) in Malaysia, including sales of non-consolidated companies and internal deliveries to affiliated companies, amounted to a year-on-year increase of almost 31 percent in both euros and ringgit. Consolidated sales to third parties in Malaysia grew 16 percent year-on-year to 188 million euros (929.5 million ringgit).
This scale underscores the country’s constant need for high-skilled engineers and technicians, a gap Bosch has consistently helped address. As a founding member of Malaysia’s German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) programme, Bosch has trained and graduated a quarter of 320 young talents over the past decade, many of whom now serve in critical engineering and technical roles across the industry. The company’s long-term talent investments reflect Bosch’s commitment to the local market.
